Energy is NOT conserved

Energy is NOT conserved.

What Nature conserves is action.

action = momentum * distance
action = energy * time

Note that in a constant-action, two-body, orbital-system,
if the distance between the bodies changes,
the momentum must change to keep the action constant.

Likewise, the time period of an orbital system
must change with the energy to keep the action constant.
