Economists are fortune tellers

In China there is a saying
"Economists are never right,
government is sometimes right,
businessmen are always right."

I might amend that to read
"small businessmen are always right,
big business managers are manipulators."

Economists are basically fortune tellers
like their predecessors who predicted using
the positions of the stars and animal entrails,

all governments consume all the money
they can get away with,

business managers in large companies
try to structure the company so that they get big salaries,
great benefits, bonuses and retirements,
and try to make themselves fire proof,

whereas small businessmen
have to watch every penny,
and keep abreast on the economy
in order to survive.
